Actually it has been possible to use full-and-half-fixed fonts in Terminal for some time; that commit just uses the new system API to detect them.
And I've just reinstated the appearance preferences changes (https://git.haiku-os.org/haiku/commit/?id=06b10d86af5d891ad9be96164d3d3c03d8f2c51a), so you can now select full-and-half-fixed fonts there again. We haven't fully resolved the debate on the mailing list, though, so Noto Sans Mono is not yet the default.
